Do you know Monopoly came about!?

In 1903, a leftwing feminist called Lizzy Magie patented the board game that we now know as Monopoly – but she never gets the credit. “It is a practical demonstration of the present system of land-grabbing with all its usual outcomes and consequences,” she wrote in a political magazine. “It might well have been called the ‘Game of Life’, as it contains all the elements of success and failure in the real world, and the object is the same as the human race in general seem[s] to have, ie, the accumulation of wealth.”

Sunday Board Game Night

It’s game night! Come enjoy your favorites from childhood over a nice cold brewski. Enjoy a wide selection of games from Uno, Yahtzee, Cranium, Twister, Apples to Apples, Sequence, Operation, Scrabble, Battleship, Monopoly & Risk.

Do you know how Scrabble came about!?

Out of America's Great Depression in 1929 - Alfred Mosher Butts invented a game that would lift the spirits of millions. Legend has it Butts studied the front page of "The New York Times" to make his calculations for the letter distribution in the game. This skilled, cryptographic analysis of our language formed the basis of the original tile distribution, which has remained constant through almost three generations and billions of games.

SCRABBLE - a word defined as 'to grasp, collect, or hold on to something'; and a word that truly captured the essence of this remarkable concept. And so the SCRABBLE Brand Crossword Game was trademarked in 1948.
