Pints 4 Non-Profits :: Beginnings School

For this Pints 4 Nonprofits we will be raising money for Skyfish School! We are thrilled to be hosting this public charter school located in Briceland, California at the Gyppo Ale Mill. In case you don’t know, this is how Pints 4 Nonprofits work. Between the hours of 4-6PM, every time you purchase a pint of beer, we donate $1 to the non-profit organization. But because this is a school we are going to throw in root beer too! At the end of the night we’ll tally up the beer sales and double it, then tack on a $1 from every root beer sale! Not only do Pints 4 Nonprofits raise a little money for these organizations, they also help our community learn about one another! And remember, sharing is caring!

Signs of Resilience :: Eel River Salmon Documentary

The Gyppo Ale Mill is excited to host The Eel River Recovery Project (ERRP) and the new documentary they produced on the native fall Chinook salmon runs. The movie entitled Signs of Resilience: 2012-2017 Eel River Fall Chinook Salmon Trends,  reports that there have been between 10,000 and 50,000 Chinook returning annually and that some sub-basins have returned to being optimal spawning habitat.

Pat Higgins, our host for the evening, is also part of ERRP and directed and narrated the documentary. “We are hoping that this film makes people aware of how ecologically resilient the Eel River is with regard to Chinook salmon production and helps us win community cooperation in promoting further recovery.”  Sequences in the movie show hundreds of Chinook holding, migrating and spawning all over the Eel River basin.

Alan Olmstead of Sirius Studios in Eureka produced the video and added high quality special effects and a dramatic sound track.  The film provides a window on the beauty of the Eel River watershed in all seasons and has been well received by audiences at public showings.  The documentary captures the enthusiasm of volunteers who helped document salmon runs and gives hope for salmon recovery.
