The Gyppo Ale Mill is Shelter Cove’s first & ONLY craft brewery and taproom. It has long been a dream of ours to combine our love for beer, family and community. This dream has had it’s ups and down but it is a dream that we hold strong to.

Our goals for the Gyppo Ale Mill is to server you kick-ass quality beers, superb food humbly served in a warm and friendly space. If you know us than you’ll know that family is extremely important part of who we are. Integrating our family into this project is just a part of how we do things. If you are looking for a new nightclub or all night dive bar, we’re sorry to disappoint. That will not be us. If you are looking for a place kick up your heels, see some familiar friendly faces, eat some quality food and wash it down with a good beer, then we’re on the same page.

Did you know Sanctuary Forest...

Is a non-profit land and water trust that seeks to conserve land and water in the Mattole River watershed and surrounding areas. 
They helped conserve over 15,000 acres since our formation in 1987. 
They work to conserve land and water for fish and for people.
Land and water stewardship are a big part of what we do - how can we steward our land and water so that people and wildlife can both benefit? 
They are currently working to reach a conservation outcome on the 1,300-acre Van Arken property in Whitethorn

This organization is almost 100% funded by the generosity of our community and every penny counts. Please join the Gyppo Ale Mill for a Pints 4 Non-Profits as we drink for a good cause. We’ll do just that by donating $1 of each beer sold between the hours of 3PM to 6PM on Friday October 19th to HRCH. At the end of the event, we’ll double that number and shoot them out a check! The HumBros featuring Brodie Forrester on guitar and vocals, Brian Sykes on guitar, Michael Beyer on percussion and Cyrus Wiessman on Bass. The group began playing together at the Persimmons Monthly Mix-Up. “It’s a fun and exciting musical adventure for all of us, we’ve been getting really good responses. People have fun, see something a little different.” The band has a unique perspective, bringing electric music to an acoustic environment which results in an electrifying acoustic experience. They do fusion, R&B, soul, rock and covers from artist such as Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Michael Franti and many original songs as well. Always a good time.

Join the Gyppo Ale Mill as we do our best to help the non-profits in our community. This Pints 4 Non-Profits will go toward the Lost Coast Interpretive Association. Between the hours of 3pm to 6pm, Gyppo will give one dollar for each beer purchased. Then at the end of the night, we’ll add it all up and double the amount!


The mission of the Lost Coast Interpretive Association is to inspire a passion for understanding and preserving the natural life of the Lost Coast in students, visitors and the community. Sharing this passion is what our programs are all about. We offer a natural science curriculum to schools and youth interns, and provide articles, lectures, hikes, and a Facebook page.

How about a little world root soul music? Join us on the Gyppo Ale Mill beer garden stage as we welcome Aaron English & Elizabeth Hareza. This duo are a “world roots soul". Their style is a blend of Americana, R&B/soul, and world music in English and other languages. Aaron and Elizabeth tour extensively in Europe and the U.S. Their musical accolades include a placement in the TV drama, "Bones".


We will also be partnering with English’s non-profit organization, International Youth Music Project for a Pints 4 Non-Profits. In 2015 Aaron founded the organization, which supports music programs for underprivileged youth around the world. During 3pm to 6pm, Gyppo Ale Mill will donated $1 for each beer sold and then match that number at the end of the day.

Join the Gyppo Ale Mill for our very first Libation & Creations event. This is a ladies only sipping and crafting series. Each week we’ll choose a new craft to make which will be taught by some of the many skilled artisans within our community. We want you to grab your mom, grab your daughter, grab your girlfriend. 

Our very first project is Heart of Hope Dream Catcher.   This craft will be lead by the mother-daughter team, Julie Peacock & Esmerelda Monschke.  Ticket price includes all materials plus your first beverage. Gyppo Ale Mill offers 8 house brewed beers,  Michaladas (red beers!), Mimosas and locally sourced kombucha, hard cider and wine.  For the kiddos and teetotalers, we have orange juice, root beer, limeade, tea and coffee.

Battle of the Bags

Calling all Mamas & Munchkins. Papas & Pipsqueaks! Who is up for a friendly game of Corn Hole? Please join the Gyppo Ale Mill as we host our very first Battle of the Bags tournament. This is a family friendly event with two seperate age categories.  In order to partipate, you'll need to come up with a team made up of one adult and one child. 

Winner choose which non-profit organization they want Gyppo to donate entry fees to. Kiddos Prizes are as $50 gift certificate from Allsport  for 9 & Under and $50 Gift Certificate to Blue Moon for 10 and Up. 

Miscallaneous details:

Who: One adult + One Child. Two different age brackets: 9 and Under and 10 and Up. Tournament limit 8 teams per bracket.
